The Giles St. block party has a tradition of hosting a downhill derby race. Not your traditional box car race, we like to call them gravity cars. In the photos you can notice the difference between two version of my car. The all wood car (with the bike wheels) in the first picture crashed and burned. Not to be deterred, I came back with a hybrid, half metal/half wood car that rose from the ashes to claim first place. Watch the video for the race.

Salvaged black walnut tree branch (from my yard) turned into custom counter top and dimmable light fixtures. Quite the process: blood sweat and tears.
Took the chunks of walnut to Southwest Trading Post just outside of Austin, TX. They milled them for me, very friendly guys.

Walnut sun glasses, what else can I say. I guess i could say they are made by my two hands.
Walnut Phone case, that's right, wood helps the reception.
Another project created from only salvaged wood. Upon moving into our 1944 Culver City Duplex, we found some extra 3/4 Birch Plywood that we ripped down into 24" widths. Then using a jig we drilled out our down pin holes. For the spacer we glued 12 1x1 into big blocks. Resourceful, minimal, efficient and flexible.
This one is from one of my trips out west. Some great slabs of wood in the redwoods.
This was commissioned by Vintage Pieceology, a traveling speciality vintage clothing boutique in ATX. You can take it down, put it in a small sedan, put it back together and roll it down the street. It was designed so that a small women could do this by herself, keeping each component light enough, preventing injury. Notice the salvaged Water Oak floating shelves sourced from our neighborhood in Houston. Al Zaitoon with the assist on this one.
Made this for Pieceology Vintage, she needed a fashionable but portable clothing rack that she could fit into her small car for pop up shows.

I was commissioned to make these stool tops for Axelrad bar in Houston. Walnut... yum. They turned out pretty nice. Its great when you make something functional and aesthetically pleasing, where people can sit, enjoy a libation and create community.
These assorted wood bases were commissioned by @Drunk_and_Crafts for supporting the epic tequila bottle which they transformed into lamps. Shout out to Inglewood!
Al Zaitoon used this set up to make extra money fixing machine tools when we were kids. Now in its retired life it mills wood
This is the "Throne", Sourced from a felled water oak on Sheridan St in Houston 77030. Shout out to Aarron Cloniger who welded up the base and Jan for finish sanding the chuncks. This is where Doot and I shared our first meal as a wed couple.
As the fence needed to come down so the lo-lifer could make its way into the back yard, I decided to make some benches from the 4x4's and reclaimed weathered fence planks. I used some hardware that I had laying around for the supports.
Removing the fence had to happen to get the Lo-Liner travel trailer in the back yard. But then the fence was put to good use, attaching it to the wall in the guest bedroom. Reclaimed wood baby.
We (the Doot and I) made 22 unique table arrangements from salvaged Texas wood. Pecan, Walnut, Osage Orange, Water Oak, Mesquite. Labor of love for sure, and our guests got to take the custom pieces home. Party favors!
So back on Sheridan St in Houston, the neighboring house, almost exactly the same as our 1950 old school duplex got demolished and I ended up salvaging some of the closet shelving. I turned them on their side and made some stoppers and shelves. I liked the low profile because we used them in our sun room. view obstruction = bad.
